ABOUT RULES
Rules allow you to be proactive in your Tracking by flagging events as they happen. This is where you decide what Asset behavior you want to monitor, what the thresholds are and how you want to be notified when Rules are triggered. A variety of Rule Types are available in Fleet Complete.
Some rules depend on the Sensors installed in the assets. For example, a Temperature Rule can only be assigned to assets that have a temperature sensor. Rules that rely on sensors are marked with an * in the table below.
Rule Descriptions |
Why is it Used |
Analog*
This rule is used to alert when an asset’s sensor readings falls outside a specific range, potentially indicating a problem with the Asset. For example: The Tracking device’s battery voltage is below a certain level.
Code*
This rule is used when a defined rule is transmitted by a sensor indicating a potential problem. For example: The vehicle moved without an ignition state or the tracking device in the asset was disconnected from power.
Crash Detected |
This rule is triggered when an asset encounters a crash. If using MGS700 devices, this feature allows users to view crash details 25 seconds prior to and up to 10 seconds after a crash has occurred. Crash details can be seen within the map area of the tracking screen and also within trip replay.
GPS Lost
This rule is used to trigger when an asset's GPS signal has been lost Note: This rule applies only to assets that have in-vehicle tracking devices installed.
Harsh Braking*
This rule is used to notify when an asset's Harsh Braking sensor indicates it is being driven harshly while braking. Note: This rule applies only to assets that have in-vehicle tracking devices installed.
Harsh Cornering*
This rule is used to notify when an asset's Harsh Cornering sensor indicates it is being driven harshly around corners. Note: This rule applies only to assets that have in-vehicle tracking devices installed.
Humidity*
This rule is used when an asset’s humidity sensor falls outside a specific range, indicating a potential risk to the vehicle's cargo.
Idle
This rule indicates when an asset's position remains constant with the ignition turned on, indicating a potential security risk and/or added fuel costs. Note: This rule type is set up by default on Fleet Complete
Illegal Power Off
This rule is used to alert when an asset has lost power while not connected to the DCM. Note: This rule applies only to assets that have in-vehicle tracking devices installed
Input*
This rule indicates when an asset’s input sensor has a change in its state, indicating a valid reason for the vehicle to be idle. For example; when a door is open or closed.
Invalid GPS
This rule is used to alert when an asset's GPS is not providing enough valid information, allowing you to take preventative measures to ensure you are always receiving and recording accurate data. For example: The antenna is not in an optimal position.
Outside Work Hours Usage
This rule is triggered when an asset's ignition is turned on outside of its work schedule, indicating a potential use of the asset for personal reasons or a potential theft.
POI
This rule is used to track the interaction between your assets and POI locations. This rule tracks when an asset enters/exits or spends a specific amount of time in a POI.
Rapid Acceleration*
This rule is used to indicate when an asset's sensor is accelerated by more than 11 km/h in 2 consecutive seconds, indicating a potential problem with resource behavior. Note: This rule type is set up by default on Fleet Complete
Speed
This rule is used to track when an asset exceeds a specific speed, indicating a potential problem with the resource behavior.
Speed Limit
This rule is used to track when an asset exceeds the speed limit by a specific percentage of the allowed limit, indicating a potential problem with resource behavior. Note: This rule type is set up by default on Fleet Complete
Still
This rule is used to determine if an asset’s position remains constant for a specific amount of time regardless of the ignition state.
Temperature* |
This rule is used to track when an asset’s Temperature sensor falls outside a specific range, potentially indicating risk to the vehicle's cargo.
Reverse
This rule is used to indicate when an asset is moving in reverse direction.
Seat Belt |
This rule is used notify when an asset is moving with a speed greater than specified while the driver seat belt is not secured. |
